Identifying a Digitally Signed Message

This symbol is used to indicate that the electronic content has been digitally signed.

In e-mail management softwares, such as Outlook® y Outlook Express®, the seal appended over the envelopes indicates that the message has been digitally signed.

The seal is also placed on the message’s upper bar (detail) in e-mail management softwares. When clicking on the icon, it will be possible to view the Digital Certificate used to sign the message and thus, check the message sender or signer data.

The properties view (detail) of the Digital Certificate used for the Message Signature will allow its full identification, certifying the message origin and integrity

Another important indicator of the signature reliability is the certification path. The certification path shows the certificates chain to which the certificate used for the message signature is linked. This chain must be originated by a reliable root, such as ICP-Brasil, Verisign and others already configured on Windows® and Linux®.

If your computer is not presenting ICP-Brasil as a reliable root yet, click here to install it on your computer.
